In 1963, the artist Louis Ewald and his wife, Evelyn, sent this Christmas card to Raymond and Mildred Pitcairn. The card features the Adoration of the Wise Men using dots in white and gold on blue paper. A large Star of Bethlehem occupies the top half of the scene, within which is the "Chi Rho" symbol, a Christogram derived from the first two Greek letters of the word for Christ. The bottom half of the scene shows Mary holding the Christ Child, with Joseph kneeling before them. The wise men kneel on the right side. The inscription reads: “Louis and Evelyn Ewald • Greetings • 1963.” Ewald, known for his expertise in paintings, murals, gold leafing, and mosaics, served as a designer and decorator for the Pitcairns.
