ADVENT CALENDAR 2023

Bernice Stroh Sandström created this Christmas card, depicting the three wise men presenting their gifts. She and her husband, Erik, sent the card to Raymond and Mildred Pitcairn (date unknown). The message in Swedish, "OCH DE TOGO FRAM SINA SKATTER…FRIDFULL JUL," can be translated as “They presented their treasures... Peaceful Christmas.” Rev. Erik Sandström was a New Church (Swedenborgian Christian) minister who was born in Sweden. Bernice is fondly remembered for crafting numerous Nativity sets for New Church families. Her sets were individually made, with each figure adorned in unique clothing, hairstyles, and hand-drawn facial features.
