Ancient Cultures Program
ANCIENT CULTURES ON-SITE AT GLENCAIRN MUSEUM
Grades 4–12 | 2 hours
Travel around the world and back in time as you and your students experience four ancient cultures reflected in the Glencairn collection. This program will:
Explore art and objects of Ancient Egypt, the Ancient Near East, Ancient Greece, and Ancient Rome.
Discuss similarities and differences in the worldviews, values, beliefs, and practices of each culture.
Provide hands-on, multisensory experiences with object replicas and educational materials to help immerse students in the lives and cultures of ancient people.
Include an interactive activity time in the Glencairn Studio where students will be invited to explore the ancient world more deeply, and examine how the values of each person that make up a culture influence the art and objects that are made by that culture. Students will be invited to reflect on their own identity, and to create a piece of art that captures this.
