Pysanky are the beautiful and elaborate Easter eggs found in Polish, Ukrainian, and Russian traditions. Learning this centuries-old technique for decorating Easter eggs is easier than you might think! Using a stylus called a kistka, we will write with melted beeswax onto the shell of a raw egg, and then dip it into vibrant dyes. Two different eggs will be completed in the workshop. Join us to make your own little heirloom—it’s a lot of fun, and the results will impress your family and friends!

Advanced Chicken Egg Class Description:

If you’ve been writing pysanky but would like to make more elaborate designs than what is offered in the beginner workshop, this class is for you. Emptied and cleaned chicken eggs and an assortment of dyes will be provided. Please bring your own kistka and beeswax. This workshop is for those who are familiar with the pysanky process and is not suitable for those who have never dyed eggs in this way. Extra tools will be available to borrow.

Advanced Goose Egg Class Description:

This workshop is for those who are familiar with the pysanky process and is not suitable for those who have never dyed eggs in this fashion. Take your pysanky skills to the next level by writing on a goose egg. A class design will be provided, or bring your own. The materials fee includes one goose egg that has been emptied and cleaned, plus a large assortment of dye colors. Please bring your own kistky and beeswax. If you have a flexible tape measure (type used for sewing), please bring it. Extra tools will be available to borrow.
