Experience the extraordinary artistry of Posaune Decuple (Pō-säwn Dāy-coop-lāy), an adaptation of “Ten Trombones,” an all-star trombone ensemble, as they return to Glencairn Museum for another highly anticipated performance.

The ensemble was first formed under the leadership of the late Glenn Dodson, a trombone virtuoso and passionate advocate for elevating the instrument “to the level of chamber music instead of the bombastic image of which it often is thought.” Posaune debuted at Glencairn in 2006 to a standing-room-only crowd. The ensemble features world-class trombonists who have performed with leading orchestras, including those in Philadelphia, San Francisco, Germany, and Brazil. Dodson envisioned the group as a platform to showcase the trombone’s versatility.

The ensemble’s deep connection to Glencairn stems from its affiliation with the late Lachlan Pitcairn, a musician and prominent supporter of classical music in the region. Lachlan, the seventh of nine children of Raymond and Mildred Pitcairn—whose former family home now houses Glencairn Museum—was also a long-time friend of Glenn Dodson. Posaune Decuple has performed exclusively at Glencairn, continuing its rich musical history.

Their 2025 concert marks a rare reunion for Posaune, featuring acclaimed trombonists such as Joe Alessi, the first tenor of the New York Philharmonic, and Darrin C. Milling, bass trombone principal with Brazil’s São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra. The program will honor Dodson’s enduring legacy and vision of bringing the trombone from the back row to center stage.

Don’t miss this exclusive opportunity to witness Posaune Decuple under the Museum’s stunning mosaic-covered Upper Hall archway.
